I'm looking at a few blue blacks. I have a few, but they all appear too blue for my taste. I need a blue black that is darker. I'm looking at the FPN Van Gogh Starry Night, Noodler's Blue Black, or Noodler's Ellis Island Blue Black. What do you think of these? Any other suggestions?

They are all good, with the FPN Van Gogh more on the blue side and Ellis Island more on the black. All are dark.

i had my eye on the swisher mix (made by noodlers) Tahitian Pearl, i don't know if it's too blue for you. i'll see if i can post the link???: http://store.nexternal.com/shared/StoreFro...&GalleryID=

In terms of inks that are readily available in most parts of the world, I would recommend (from my limited experience) Pelikan blue-black. Quite dark. There's a good review on it in the Ink Review forum. Avoid Waterman blue-black, it's actually turquoise, and dries to a light turquoise at that.

Pelikan blueblack works good with a real wet nib. I use it in vintage Pelikans.
Waterman blueblack works good with every pen if you like the greenish colour.

Darker than Waterman but also greenish is Diamine blueblack.
Very dark blue - closer to blueblack than blue - is Sailor blue. One of my favourites.
Sailor blueblack is closer to black than blue. A little bit boring compared to the blue.
Rohrer & Klingner Salix is also a nice blueblack but it is irongall.

I have Noodler's B-B...I would describe it as a black-blue. It is really dark.

Ellis Island also has a green tone in some of its shading--that's the vintage part of the ink. It's a superb ink with excellent flow and it seems about 75% waterproof. Very dark color.

One more vote for the Ellis Island Blue Black, which I like a lot. If you want something almost as dark, but on the blue side, Private Reserve Midnight Blues is pretty good.

Yes, Pelikan BB is somewhat dry but a nice hue, Hugh.
Parker's and Waterman's BB are too green (for me at least).
Sheaffer's BB is also a bit greenish but darker, with a hint of brown.
Very nice is Herbin's BLEU NUIT which has a dash of purple.
Rubinato's BB is maybe the neatest of them all. Very dark, little blue, but still a reall BB.

My favorite BB is PR Midnight Blues. Noodlers is o.k. for me, but it seems more like black with a few drops of green to me.

My current favorite blue black is Noodler's Navy. It is an ink I over looked for a long time, but filled a pen full of it week before last for my grandson to use and we have been through two fills of it since then. I think it is a really nice color that has been overlooked by many including myself for too long.

I'll put in a plug for my personal concoction, "Magic Midnight Mix," a 1:1 mixture of PR Midnight Blues and Black Magic Blue. THis is a very dark blue with no hint of green or red. Just a pure dark cobalt blue.

Cheers.

Personally, I didn't like Noodlers Blue-Black. Lamy Blue-Black or R&K Salix are great. Also, Noodlers Polar Blue darkened with one part in 10 or so of some black ink. Much more of a Blue-Black (imho) than Noodler's BB, which is way too colorful to be a BB.

I'll have to add MB's own BB. Very dark. Just bought it an hour ago. Really nice juice for my 146.

Although I don't own any (currently), I've been very impressed with FPN's Starry Night that correspondents have written letters to me with. It's a very, very, very dark blue.

PR Midnight Blues, I second that.

My favorite blue-black is Pilot's iroshizuku tsuyu-kusa.
