Hi everyone
I am new to CS pens and I don't seem to be able to find them in bricks and morter shops to appraise the different models and see how they fit my hand.
I have also fallen in love with the yellow whirl pattern; I think that it's really beautiful and vibrant.
Can anyone advise me re which model would be the right one for me?
I currently have a number different pens, including Visconti, Faber Castell and Cross. I prefer the narrower pens, as they suit my hand better, so I am not looking for anything too wide or 'chunky', nor anything particularly heavy.
So, my question is which model would be most appropriate that I can get in the yellow whirl pattern (or could I use the 'bespoke service'?)
Any input is greatfully received!
Thanks - Leonie

Your description tells me that you'd likely do well with a 58. It's a bespoke model now, but it's still available, and it's delightful to handle.

I have the CS Series 100 in Yellow Whirl and I love it. The only thing from your list that I have to compare it to is a Visconti Art Nouveau. The CS seems a bit stockier in the hand. The nib is half again as big as the Visconti (M italic on the CS, M on the Visconti.) I would say the CS 100 is just a chunkier pen all around. But you have to love the yellow whirl!

Funnily enough, this was the conclusion I came to myself last night when I was looking at your own website!
Thanks for the input!

I think with these pens, it's always best to say what pen sizes you've enjoyed.
I love my Dandy (still available as a bespoke). Let me know if you want pictures next to pen sizes you're more familiar with.
I prefer the lines of the 58, though!

I currently have Cross Century II's, Visconti VG and a FC Ambition.
A CS would definitely therefore be my first foray into
really expensive pens!
Thanks for your input!

We only have one pen in common, so here you go.

If you're in Manchester I doubt we're too far from each other, I'm in Bolton. If you fancy arranging to meet up for a coffee somewhere I could let you try out my different Conway Stewarts - two Dandys, a 58, a Duro and a Centenary Collectors' Edition. I do love my 58, great size and a wonderful smooth nib. I think I could write with that pen all day.

Hi Leonie, I am also in Gtr Manchester (Oldham)

Maybe you would consider a vintage CS58, you won't pay as much as the overpriced, imho, modern 58's. You can pick up a real beauty for £60-80.

Deirdre, how do you like your modern Dandy? Do you use it as a regular writer and is the lever functioning well?
Leonie,
My husband has a sterling silver CS 100, and though it is heavy, the shape and size are incredibly comfortable. Unless you know for sure that you prefer smaller pens, give a (non-sterling) 100 a try as well. I myself am into flat-top designs, but must admit the 58 & 100 shapes are easier on the hand for prolonged writing.

I love the Dandy. I use it for 2-3 days a month, probably. The lever works great, and it's a nice little pen. I was considering getting it as a bespoke when I found one NIB back from when they were made for Levenger.
