I recently purchased a white and black Pelikan M100 with a black nib. Hubby does pretty well at nib smoothing. Can the black nib be smoothed as any other, if it all? Will the black come off? Thanks in advance for any responses.

the black under the tipping will wear off as you write, so go ahead with the smoothing. If you don't rub the nib with something abbrasive all over it, it would remain in its original black oxidized finish.
