Full Version: Tight Piston Knob

I just got my Pelikan M205 Demonstrator. When I flushed it with water it seemed to me that the knob at the top of the pen that controls the piston mechanism was really tight when compared with my M200. Is this normal? Is there anyway to fix this?

Some inks tend to lubricate pistons and would help. It can be improved by lubrication with pure silicon grease.

How would I apply the silicon grease?

Hi. Search this Pelikan forum and there's a post telling how to do it, basically. I need to do this too. It said to clean out the pen, let it dry completely, unscrew the nib and take it out, and turn the piston knob until the piston is closest to the nib. Then put a tiny bit of the silicon grease (no petroleum additives) inside the barrel as close to the piston as possible. Then work the piston up and down a few times and the problem should be solved. They say don't use too much or it could clog the feed. The littlest bit will do, apparently. I read that people have bought it at diving equipment stores and online, and someone suggested Home Depot or a place that sells plumbing supplies, as long as there're no petroleum in it. Hope this helps.

I have an Omas Paragon demi that has always had a stiff knob action. I run one of the Noodler's Eel inks in it from time to time and it helps to lubricate the mechanism and also improves the ink flow as the pen has always been a dry writer. I have done this with a few of my Pelikans that get stiff from time to time. Just thought I'd let you know about the Eel inks in case you don't want to go through all that lubricating stuff.

Good luck.
