I own 12 "51"s half Vacumatics , half Aeromatics.

I would like to tell if any of my Aeromatics are from a 1953 manufacture.

Any suggestions

Brianw06-

Parker stopped dating Aero 51 barrels in 1952. The dating lasted a bit longer on pens made in England. Pencil dating lasted a bit longer, lasting until 1956. If you find a set (pen and pencil) you have a chance otherwise for 1953 you are only going to be able to guess.

Try looking at www.parker51.com for some pointers on pinning down date of manufacture.

Nibs may be date coded into 1953, but I think I've only seen them up to 1952. Ernesto (or his website, as FarmBoy mentioned) is one of the definitive sources. If you're able to take them apart and examine the base of the Aero nibs, you might find one.

A thought.
Get a 'Made in England' Aero, as it appears date codes carried on in the UK 'til 1955 at the least. A .3 code would indicate 1953.

Regards

Richard.

Possibly Old Griz, he may have enough going through his paws to be able to pull one out. Alternatively Ernesto at www.parker51.com may be able to help tell you whether I've got you going after phantoms - I don't think so because of this thread http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=71214

The two English P51's I've got don't have date codes on them. I suspect the date coded ones are less than common, so collecting a specific year may mean a recourse to e-bay, buy lots and sell on those without the correct code. Good luck!

Richard.
