Has anyone see - or used - this book? It looks interesting -but I have never seen it
Randal6393
Yes, it is a standard on reforming one's handwriting. I have only seen a few items from it -- on Amazon.com. The authors appear to have a lot of experience in teaching handwriting. I think they teach italic handwriting but am not sure. Many people on this forum give positive reviews of the book, the authors, and the methods used.

Are you planning on buying it? It is usually available on the online bookstores. If you do try it, be sure to give us a review.

Yours,
Randal

Check your local library. If they don't have it, ask them to get it.

Pendemonium.com also had this book, and another one, Italic letters, by the same duo when they were at the portland pen show.

I am about half way through the book, and it has helped, but I keep regressing to old habits.
I will have to go back to remedial penmanship class.

I second the recommendations to check your library, Amazon, or Pendemonium, as well as John Neal Booksellers and, I think Paper & Ink Arts. I bought my copy years ago at Fahrney's, before I began boycotting the place. As for the book, it has good instruction presented in a copybook style (blank ruled lines are provided to follow the model). I worked with this book and The Italic Way to Beautiful Handwriting (out of print but easily available at Amazon) when I was improving my handwriting (unfortunately, it's slipping back to a scrawl, but it's been a few years).

I worked about halfway through it, then got bored...fairly normal wink.gif

It's good but the examples one is s'posed to copy are much larger than my normal writing, so it felt rather artificial after a while..... and there were a few letter forms which I just didn't want to use.

(And the paper on which it's printed is rather cr@ppy for writing-on with a FP sad.gif )

This falls into the category of "must have" for me at least. A great deal of information, easy format and reasonable price. Also, free shipping if you have another book to order along with this one. I've spent more money on ink I didn't like over the years. You can probably find most of the information on the internet for free but I would rather spend time learning penmanship and not how to search the internet smile.gif . Just my impression. YMMV

It's a great book and has helped many. I think there is video out to accompany it now as well, but I can't recall where I saw that ad.

Michele, the DVD is in the King county library system.

I also got the italic way book via Inter-library loan too.

I have a copy I bought within the last two months.

I've ended up copying it so I can use my paper to
practice with.

It's good ... if you decide you really want to learn their
style of writing ... I'm deciding at the moment if
I really want to do that.

I mean, I bought it to improve my handwriting and
to be honest, my attempts at learning their method
haven't been terribly successful.

I think I'd (personally) be better off borrowing some
of their methods and theory and further developing my
own style.

Not that there is anything wrong with theirs; it's me that isn't fitting.

It's a really good book! Last time I looked a Pendemonium they were selling it.
