A very nice picture and clever use of DOF, makes the nib stand out nicely.

Thanks Hari. Looking at it again, the pic would be better without the nib obscuring the cap. I was happy with the sharpness and dof.

That is a nice photo. I like photos of nibs with the ink spots on them.

Thanks ethernautrix. I was mucking about taking some watch photos and the pen was a quick shot. Might as well see the ink it uses. I don't normally use neutral backgrounds but it was fun to try it out.

Nice shots. smile.gif The vintage omega looks especially classy.

PS: Nice bokeh on the first one.

Ha! My brother complimented the bokeh and sent a wiki link to explain it. So now I know a new word and have heard it used outside the family. Thanks for the nice comment. The Omega is in great condition and my wife wears it daily - looks great. The other one is a bit of a hangar queen.

Me too. It matches the pen nicely.

I was browsing through the photo messages and came across your message with a link to your pen photos on Flickr. Very nice!!

Then I saw your comment above. Inspiration. Run out on the patio and shoot a nib. (With a camera.) First jot down something as background and leave the nib dirty. Here it is.

From perusing other messages I knew not to use harsh light, so this one is in the shade of a patio umbrella.

Wow, nice, sharp close-up! And that ink color, what is that? Besides fabulous? Great shot!

And just saw David's photo of the watches -- lovely! I like the background. For some reason, it seems nostalgic to me -- or maybe it's the analog watches.

Ha ha ha, just saying "you have dirty nibs" sounds dirty!

It's the same ink you used in your Flickr photos of pens: Sheaffer red.

The image of the Parker nib is fairly saturated and therefore so is the ink. Made with an old Canon G-1 and some sort of macro lens I picked up. This was an experiment and I was surprised how sharp it looks. Here is another view (attached).

Both great pics. I especially like the first one... but I am a bit of a sucker for a nib close up and the colour is very rich. I meant to say that I like the lighting on that one too - clarity without burning out.

wow...i love ur nib it looks great...ive always had a thing or too for nibs that have swirly designs on them (scratch that, ive always had a thing for swirly designs smile.gif )

Thanks, these Pels are handsome nibs. This is one of the slightly older Pelikan made ones but the design is still the same.

Why, thank you! The colour lifts the pic a bit... and to think, I almost went for the black one.
