Hi,
I have just received my Sailor Pro Gear with medium nib.
The nib is marked H-M. I'm sure I had seen them with M-F nibs.
The nib line width is OK but it isn't as smooth as I had expected from other reviews.
What nib do I have and is there anything I can do about the "tooth"?
Thanks

H-M means Hard-Medium. If you ordered a Medium, you have a Medium. H-F is Hard-Fine. Most Sailor nibs are designated 'H' for Hard. A Medium-Fine is designated H-MF.
The Sailor Medium is the same as a Fine in other brands (Parker, Watermans etc), so if you normally use a Medium, you likely should have ordered a Japanese Broad or Zoom nib.
To experience less tooth, you can try easing up on your writing pressure, and use a lubricating ink.

Also, the pen may not be set up for correct ink flow for your choice of ink, resulting in dry writing, which could result in a "toothy" feel.
The nib itself could not be perfect, too. I've had great luck with Michael Masuyama, at Mike-it-work, as he's a Sailor-trained nibmeister/pen tuner, and he's brought back a few pens that I didn't want to use anymore due to toothy nibs and weak flow. He's fast, and his rates are reasonable. www.mikeitwork.com I think is his website.
Good luck!

Aurora - Blue or Black are the choices.

I have never experienced any tooth with my Sailors, so I can't be of help. I wonder if the pen could have knocked around in transit at some point.

Check to see if the tines of the nib are aligned. Tine misalignment seems to be a common problem which can greatly affect the way that a nib writes. If they aren't aligned, just use your fingers to line them up.
