My name is Mike and I'm a college professor and Esterbrook collector from Glendale, Arizona.

I collect Esterbrooks because they are beautiful every day pens (and yes I use them every day - my students think I'm nuts) that I can customize and repair on my own. The colors are vibrant even after 60 or more years of service and the nibs are amazing after you find the one(s) that suit your style. I've also dabbled in Parker, Sheaffer and a few smaller brands as they strike my fancy while exploring in the wild.

I came to the boards to learn more about this great hobby.

I also collect everything baseball (especially pre -1945 gloves and bats) and vintage watches.

I also acquire Esties to use daily and have just begun learning basic cleaning and repair such as new sacs, j-bars, etc. I favor a medium stub nib for most uses.

Hang out here and learn lots of good stuff. There are many experts here as well as plenty of folk like me who have a long way to go learning from the crumbs the experts drop.
