I spent some hours this morning cleaning out some old Esties I've acquired in the past few weeks. One has a broken J-bar and 3 need new sacs.

Aside from canabalizing another pen is there a source for a J-bar?

What size sac is used to re-sac an Esterbrook pen J-series?

I need to buy sacs, shellac, and talc to do this project (so da Book tells me). Any other suggestions?

While I was doing the Esties I also examined some old Parkers and Shaeffers I've acuired as well. What is the best way to learn to tell one from another?

My thanks in advance for the expected advice!

All J-series Esties take a No. 16 sac, and they're all cut to the same length.

The only way to get a proper J-bar for an Estie is to steal one from another Estie. Similar-looking J-bars don't have the little bent-up prong that keeps the lever from flopping over backwards.

Hi,

Just get some size 16 sacs, and be sure to put pure talcum powder on the sacs before you install them.
