Several months ago, someone (I think it was The Noble Savage, but I am not sure) posted a great review of a gray Bexley Sheherazade. I loved the pen, went to Richard Binder's website and fell in love with the blue version. Told myself if I met a certain goal, I'd buy it.

Well, I didn't meet my goal, but my husband bought it for me anyway for my upcoming birthday. laugh.gif

I love this pen! smile.gif9 The previous review does it justice but I have to say it's now my favorite pen. It's even more stunning than the picture can show. It's a just-off-of-royal blue, almost transparent, with flecks of silver floating through it. Just so beautiful. And it writes like a dream - both smooth on the paper and very comfortable to hold. I was concerned about the flare in the design that's above the section, but it doesn't intrude at all. Right now it's filled with Noodler/Swisher's Tahitian Pearl, which is a lovely color.

This post is to thank the person who posted that review because without it, I don't think I'd have looked more closely and found this glorious blue pen. (I did a forum search on both Bexley and Sheherazade and came up with nothing. I must have done something wrong, because I know I read it on this board a few months back.)

Here's a pic of the color (from Richard Binder's site), but I couldn't find one of the whole pen in blue.

That was, indeed, TNS, Tricia and I see him on this thread as I write, so I bet he replies soon. smile.gif

I think you might mean this one, Tricia?

I believe Southpaw did one as well - hope this helps smile.gif

Forgot the picture!

Btw, your husband is a sweetie biggrin.gif

Think you're right, Kelly. I believe SP did a Sheherazade review, also. Who did the Grey one? Now I can't be sure. It's easy enough to search and find out, but uninformed speculation is much more fun! blush.gif rolleyes.gif

Why thank you Tricia, I beleive Southpaw also did a review on it. I am planning on a second review on the Tortoiseshell Sheherazade I bought quite some time ago but here is the link to my review on my Fountain pen review website Bexley Sheherazade Review
I found that Bexley is one of the Last American fountain pen company left. With the status of Sheaffer up in the air, Bexley is a company that I see staying in business for quite sometime.

The reason why or at least one of the reasons why I do reviews is to share an experience with everyone. I am so glad that I was able to share an experience with a pen that I consider one of the best made pens today. I am glad that you share the same feelings that I did when I first filled and used this pen. Thanks for the support and the credit, it really means a lot to me. I just report back to everyone my experiences, opinions and thoughts regarding fountain pens that I purchased. Doing reviews is a very long process for me because I have to write with a pen for a minimum of 3 to 5 refills to get an accurate feel for the pen. Sometimes it takes a week or two or sometimes it takes a day or two. Regardless, I have to find time to do it and it is tough when I work a full time job and raising twin 3 year old girls with my wife. To hear positive feedback from people is what makes doing reviews so rewarding.

Best of Luck and continue to enjoy your Bexley Sheherazade. It is a wonderful writing fountain pen.

Roger, you guess correctly!!! There can NEVER be a BEXLEY post that I dont at least reply to!! In answer to your question, I did do the review on the grey one, and I think Southpaw did one too!! Ast this point, I have 2 Sheherazade FP, grey and tortoise shell. I did own a blue one before the tortoise shell but I had a problem with the piston chamber not being sealed properly. So there was not a good seal and in fact there was a gap between the chamber wall and the piston seal so I had ink leakage all through the piston mechanism. I sent it back to Howard Levy and he told me that there was a problem with that particular run of the blue sheherazades. So He told me that he didnt have any extras right then and there but he offered to make one from scratch for me or a different color. I asked him for a tortoise shell instead and 3 days later it was waiting for me.

This is the kind of company Bexley is, small short runs and filling the demand as needed without flooding and diluting the market. They listen to thier customers and they are always coming out with new lines of pens.

I dont know if I can afford over 400.00 for the pen!!! I received my paperwork from Bexley 2 days ago. Tax return is coming but I am not sure If I am going to use it towards a pen. Man, but then again, it is just a beautiful pen that would be very hard to pass up!! Decisions decisions!!! sad.gif

So true! It is a big chunk of money for such a pen. Nice as the celluloid looks in the limited pictures of it available, so far, it is a brand new filling system for Bexley and, good as they are, it might take time to iron it out.

I'm probably going to pass on it. Invariably, an example or two will show up on the GB and eBay shortly after they get in people's hands, so I think they'll be available even if the LE sells out.

TNS,

I am such a color junkie that I had to have that stunning blue, so I'm glad they worked out whatever issues they had with it. So far, mine is 100%. biggrin.gif

It's great for someone like me to read the in-depth reviews here on FPN. I love my fps, but don't know that much about the various kinds. I've learned a lot over the last few months here and have been really enjoying trying out new pens. My Sheherazade is my Queen of Pens. Definitely a wonderful writing experience! laugh.gif smile.gif9

Again, thanks for the great review. (And thanks to Southpaw, too. I'm sure I read it, too, but my memory isn't as air-tight as it used to be. sad.gif )

Just read this post - still loving my gray Sheherazade with buttery smooth medium nib. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours. If my review helped, wonderful. TNS' review is great!
