Hello all:
I am repairing a Parker green marble fountain pen which has a tendency to change colour . I need to order some sacs and I was wondering which to order. Silicon or latex? I have not used either and need the advice of the knowledgeable ones. Can someone help me?

Silicon... Rubber sacs are the reason that those old celluloid pens discolor. It comes from the sulfur that is released from the rubber sac.

If you have a Jade Green with nice color, you will probably want to keep it that way. Use a silicon sac.

The colour is not perfect but I would like to keep it that way. Thank you for your quick advice. What do you use the latex sacs for?

Pens that don't discolor. Silicon is stiffer and can cause filling systems (like lever bars) to fail.

Martin has been making thinner wall sacs that aren't quite as stiff as the originals. There are trade offs here too, but they are thinner and are less likely to stress the levers.
