I'm considering adding a Parker Vacumatic to my little pen family. I know very, very little about these pens so I'm hoping I can get some help with a few questions. The ones that I'm looking at have fine nibs. Does anyone know what sort of a line the fine produce? I'm currently stuck on my Pelikan 200 fine so we can use that as a comparison. Also, how much do these pens weigh? Are they heavy?

Thanks in advance for any help! thumbup.gif

The line produced by a Parker Vacumatic fine will be a little finer than modern pens (excepting Asian pens, which run finer that European ones). They are medium weight pens, quite nice.

Weight will depend on which Vacumatic you choose (some are larger sized, some are smaller sized, some have more metal), but in general I experience them as being somewhere in the light to medium light range. Their distinctive striped celluoid is very light weight.

Probably finer than your Pelikan, unless it's semi- or full-flex (not likely, but there are some out there), in which case it depends on how much pressure you apply. As for weight, I don't have scales handy, but to the extent that how they feel when picked up and held in the palm of my hand is reliable, my double-jewel Vacumatics are light, weighing (empty) only slightly more than a Pelikan 200 (empty).

The striped celluoid is actually what I've got my eyes on. But just recently I saw a nice Sheaffer Autograph Snorkel so I'm a little torn. lol It's nice to hear that it's light. I love my heavier VP but it's hurting my arm. I guess my tendonitis has gotten worse.

I'm also glad to hear its finer than my Pelikan. I try so hard not apply much pressure but if I start having to write a lot in one sitting I'll find that by the end I've gone back to my old habits.

Thank you all for the help!
