Hi - I've been reading reviews for Noodler's Apache Sunset, Cayenne, Apricot Orange, and Habanero. I also saw PR Orange Crush. What is the brightest (yet still readable) orenge we can find? I like the looks of Diamine's Orange, from the uk ink comparison website, but is it really as bright as the picture?

Hi Heidi,
In my book, and in that order; Cayenne, Cayenne, Cayenne, Cayenne, a whole lot of nothing, Cayenne, Cayenne, some more nothing, and finally, Cayenne.
I guess I made my preference clear...
You really should see it dry, and you'll understand why...
Warm regards, Wim

Heidi,
Wim's right. But he didn't put the case strongly enough for my liking.

I'm fond of Noodler's Apache Sunet. I like the variation. It isn't the brightest most orangy orange, but it is very nice on the eyes.

Diamine orange is very bright indeed. I have just double-checked the original from which that scan was made and it really does jump out from the page!

I'm with Wim on this one. Cayenne rules! It's the one orange you can use without it looking candy-like.

I received a letter in Diamine Orange. If I wanted an orange ink it would be Diamine. For what it's worth, it is the only orange I've experienced.

I have Habanero (among other oranges), and love it.
Thanks for reminding me to get some Cayenne. :bunny1:

I do like Diamine orange. It's beautiful and bright. I don't have it though...
NO Orange Crush. Turns brown, every time so far.

Orange Crush is a nice colour but it is definitely a burnt caramel shade of orange, not bright pumpkin orange. It does seem to dry quite slowly, hence a tendency to smudge in my experience.

Oh yes, it does dry slowly.

Wow, Diamine Orange looks pretty. Actually, a lot of Diamine colors looks so pretty. I also want to try Jade Green because the name is so beautiful. Too bad Diamine inks are not easily available in stores here in NYC.

I just bought a bottle of Private Reserve Tangerine Dream - and it's FABULOUSLY bright though legible. It's not made any more though...? I do know that lots of places say it shouldn't be mixed with other inks b/c it will cause a precipitate, but why would I want to mix this perfectly ORANGE ink? It doesn't shade much, but it's such a bright happy color that I don't mind - I'll try to scan in a sample later. FWIW, I saw it online at Wood 'n Dreams, but I got my bottle at my weekend visit up to Boston @ Bromfield's Pen Store after having seen their ink sample book and being stunned by the color. WHOO!

Somewhere in my big stash of ink, I have Bethge orange. It is really, and I mean you Satrap, really orange.
Nice ink. More orange than Cayenne or Habanero, or Apache Sunset, close to Swisher`s Apricot.

As W. Bethge ink = made by J. Herbin , is it possible that it is same as J. Herbin 'Orange Indien'? (just guessing)

Nope it's a truer orange than the Herbin colour.

You guys are crazy!

Noodlers Habanero is BY FAR the greatest orangey ink in the land!
I had a sample of Diamine Orange and it is very bright. Which is fine if you want your writing to look as though it was with a melted popsicle (which I didn't. Far too brassy a color for me).
Okay, I am sitting back down now!
