About a month ago I sent my brand new medium nib Ruby Red Sonnet GT off to Sanford brands for repair/adjustment. Out of the box it was very scratchy and felt much worse than my Parker Reflex!
It came back on Monday and I am pleased to say that it write much more nicely now. On cheap paper it doesn't quite write as nicely as my fine nibed Lamy Al-Star but on Rhodia/Clairefontaine/smooth cheap Japanese paper it feels wonderful.
Pens are sent from New Zealand to Sanford Australia for repair. I thought they would simply adjust the nib but they actually replaced it.
I wanted to make this post just to say that I had a positive experience with Sanford New Zealand. It's still a shame that that pen had to be sent off in the first place but at least Sanford fixed it for me!
*edit* There is only one thing I was disappointed about. I asked about the possibility of having the nib changed from a medium to a fine and was told that there would be a charge for this. At the time I thought oh well, this is fair enough as they are probably only going to adjust the nib and not replace it. However, since they did replace it anyway it seems that they could have downsized me without charge!
