Where can you get these cheap ebonite eyedropper pens? I did a google search last night and couldn't come up with anything cheap. I'd be interested in something like that as a daily toss around pen.

Don't stress people, we're talking about water-based inks. smile.gif

I put near-Bulletproof Noodler's Red Black into my brand spanking Danitrio My Fuji today... and that is not a cheap pen. smile.gif

I've used various Noodler's inks [including Near-Bulletproof and Bulletproof] in a wide variety of pens, and there have been no safety-related issues. They're all whole-heartedly recommended.

There is, however, one glaring exception: Baystate Blue. Lovely colour, but it is a replica of a vintage ink and has a scary propensity to stain. I've tested it on a yellow Lamy Safari, it was irreversibly marked in less than 3 seconds. There were flow issues with my Pilot 78G, too.

If you must use Baystate Blue, put it in a pen you do not care much for. I suspect this holds true for the other two Baystate inks.

There was some discussion of this on the Zoss list. Surprisingly, the Blue ink is somewhat vulnerable to rubbing alcohol...the key being "somewhat." Try putting some on a cotton swab. Otherwise, this ink stains everything, forever. Be very careful. One person soaked his pen in bleach. This will corrode just about any pen ever made, so don't.

To answer the OP's question, I'll put Noodlers waterproof ink in just about any pen I own, the exception being my Vac-fils simply because I don't put any saturated inks in them, preferring not to test the mechanism. I probably could, I just don't. As to the Baystate family, they go in my less expensive pens because I know there could be staining issues - but I'm one of those who likes these inks and has all of them. smile.gif

The most expensive MSRP pen I have is just shy of a thousand bucks, and I put Old Manhattan Black in it, and it is like writing with shiny, polished blackety black, just as I like it.

Then I switched out the Skrip Red in my sweet 'lil Tucky for the OMB -- same wet, shiny, gorgeous black.

I've got in my Pelikan M215, and I had it in the Nakaya Piccolo Cigar, and then I had too many pens in rotation and took the Piccolo out.

All the fountain pens I have in rotation (four) have Old Manhattan Black in them.

And I just ordered another bottle today.

Should I put the MB Hemingway into rotation, I'd put the OMB in it.

I guess what I'm saying is... I don't have any qualms using Noodler's Bulletproof OMB in any of my pens.

Ethernautrix, does it stain, clog, creep, and splatter? Is it another one of those situations in which you accept those problems as the trade-off for the color and Bulletproofing? (Not being snide, that's what I was told at one point, for Noodler's and Private Reserve both.)

If there's a Noodler's ink that doesn't do what all the Noodler's inks I've tried so far have done, I'd give it a try. smile.gif

Djehuty, the ONLY thing OMB does from your list is creep a bit. It hasn't stained, clogged, or splattered. The creepage is minimal and easily overlooked.

And after I've written with it, when I've spilled on the paper... the ink holds. That's the bottom line for me.

I LOVE the Sheaffer Skrip Red, love that color, LOVE IT! It was in my Tucky. It came out smooth and lovely and... wow! But... it disappears completely when spilled upon. In the end... I put the OMB in it. I want an ink that lasts.

Hmm, perhaps I'll give it a shot. I'll admit Aurora Black has been looking a tad brownish-grey of late. I just worry about the nib creep... it tends to escalate to ink in the cap and blots on the page.

If you like, I'll send you a sample. It's an exclusive ink from Fountain Pen Hospital, and if you don't like it -- horrors! So PM me your address (if you feel comfortable), and I'll send you a bit. You are under no obligation to love the ink. Hee.
