The cap of my Snorkel is currently in two bits: the outer plasticy section and the metal inner section (see photo). When they became separated some brown flakes of old glue fell out, and there are still some bits stuck to the metal.

Can anyone suggest what type of glue I should use to stick them back together? Should I use glass paper or similar to remove the old glue first?

Thanks in advance!
Greg.

Shellac

Thanks, I had a suspicion that's what it might have been.

Is there anything specific I should know about the process, or should I just go for it?!

Thanks,
Greg.

Remove what you can of the old adhesive, then slather the shellac on the inner cap, and put it in the cap. Clean off the excess shellac with alcohol. Then set the pen cap aside for at least a week to give the cap time to set.

Epoxy would work too, but you'll never get the cap apart again, where the shellac should release with heat.

Okay, I'll try that. Many thanks for your helpful advice.

Greg.
