Hi,
Please can anyone identify the finish on the Parker Sonnet below? It is reminiscent of the Parker 75 'Florence' finish but with four lines running lengthways instead of three.
If I have read the date code correctly, it is a 1994 model - so it's an early one. The nib is gold plated.
Thanks

I believe it is the Dimonite finish (50-50 gold & titanium). However, it is just a thin coating on a brass? or perhaps plastic? base.

Yes I would said the first made looking at the logo. The thin band is also the first made. The body are brass coat with plating. As for the Nib Mine are a 18k while some are just gold plating. Nib are not a problem you can also change.

Many thanks to you both for your help.
I did a little reseach on the web and found a picture of a Sonnet Dimonite G and yes, this seems to be the one! The finish appears to be coated onto brass. I noticed the earlier style Parker insignia on the cap - any idea when Parker made the change? Presumably pretty early on.
According to one website the '14k Dimonite G, a lustrous and super-hard 14k gold plated finish produced by a melding process of fine gold and titanium nitride', is now used as the gold trim of the Parker Frontier. Presumably it is used as the gold trim on most, if not all, other Parkers as well.

P.S. Sorry if the photos have disappeared - the hosting website seems to be down at the moment.

There are no lines next to the Parker logo on the cap. Clearly they have been left out so one can engrave them. But, does that look nice when the brass is exposed? If anyone has any pictures of such an engraving that would be great!
The new logo was introduced in 1999 AFIK.
