Ronin
Hi. I know nothing about them but they sure look good. Any ideas what the going rate to buy one is? Does anyone have one to sell!

Many thanks,

Ronin

Please email me at Dennis if you are still looking for a Connaisseur. I have a couple available.

And let me know Ronin, if you ever want a matching ballpoint for that fountain pen. I'll make you a deal.

I could never bring myself to own a pen with such an irritating mis-spelled name wink.gif
Why ? huh.gif Had someone else registered the correctly-spelled word?

I believe that "connaisseur" is the proper spelling in French. Roger, you're missin' out on a great writer...smile.gif

Yes, I do realise that, although I discovered that the 'English' spelling derives from Old French....but Sheaffer has, as far as I'm aware, always been an American company?

It just looks to me as if someone mis-spelled it, and all the sales literature got printed, and it was too late to go back smile.gif

Then someone (high-up) said "What the heck..no-one will notice!" biggrin.gif

It has the same effect as the all-too-common use of 'compliments' in sales bumf, when it should be 'complements'....just mild irritation!

I have A ballpoint (singular).

As far as I know, it is the only one from back then. At the time I bought it, it had a list of $105, and appeared to be an attempt to be a competitor for the Meisterstuck BP. Gold and Black, and the cap matches the cap of the fountain pen.

According to that bastion of credibility, wikipedia, the connaisseur is sort of a "super conoisseur", who has studied the subject intensively, primarily applied to wine "connaisseurs". Shaeffer must have missed the old Snagglepuss cartoons, where the lion pronounced the oi as oy, i.e., can noy see ur. If Snagglepuss had been a real snob, according to Wiki, he could have pronounced it can nay see ur. rolleyes.gif

Ah, but it is a French company now. Obviously they saw they future and named the pen accordingly....... rolleyes.gif

I hope I don't start correcting spelling and punctuation. I'll spend half my time with that task.
