Hello people,

I just would like to know if it is possible to unscrew the clip on a Montblanc 149 pen.

I need to unscrew the clip because I would like to get my jeweller to put afew 2 pointer diamonds on it. My jeweller says that he can not do this unless the clip is taken off as the clip will take in too much heat during the welding of the diamond setting and damage the pen if it is attached...

Can anyone help me with this please....

Alternatively, is there any pen in the Montblanc range whose clip is unscrewable.

Your assistance in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you guys.

Bourke.

Hello Bourke,

You can use a normal screwdriver, 0.7 to 4 mm and unsrew the srew inside the cap. Do not twist the cap top because the is a little bar to fix the cap top.

kind regards

Max

Max is right. My 1960s model 149s do not have the machine screw that connects the cone to cap, however. The cone threads onto the cap by a threaded extension on the top part of the cap. The photo below shows what I'm talking about. It's a little fuzzy, but you get the intent.
