I received FPN Van Gogh Starry Night Blue, Private Reserve Plum, Private Reserve Sherwood Green, Noodler's Blue-Black and Pelikan Turquoise all on the same day. The last four were compliments of Pear Tree's sample club. I was delighted with every ink with the exception of Sherwood Green. Do not buy this ink, especially if you write on moleskin. More on that in a bit. I love my moleskin. It has not feathered ink nor not performed once, with the exception of Sherwood Green. The following two pictures accurately represent the colors of these inks. Maybe my point and shoot Nikon is that good (I doubt it) or maybe because I'm shooting under full spectrum lighting, I don't know which. When I compare my lcd screen with the actual page the colors are faithfully represented. Pay particular attention to the green, please. All the text was written with the same pen, my brand new Pilot 78G. I know, its a pretty expensive pen to be using to perform these test.... LOL

Well, looking at my screen again, I guess the PR Plum (my favorite ink so far) is not so pink as what is shown. And, there really is a difference between Starry Night and Blue-Black. Oh, the first blue ink on the second picture was Waterman Blue in the cartridge in my Waterman Phileas.

Look at how the green feathered compared to the other inks

I agree with you. I also got a Sherwood Green sample for Pear Tree. I put it in a Roting Core, another $9 pen, and it leaked all over my hand during a sales call. I could not shake the clients hand at the end of the meeting! I flushed the pen and have loaded it with Noodlers Sequoia Green and I have not had any problems with the pen. It is just a shade darker but it doesn't leak. smile.gif I also have the Sequoia in my Reform 1745.

Try PR's Ebony Green. Darker, but a little better behaving. Do NOT try Fast Dry Sherwood. Feathers like mad!

I mix my PR inks with water, up to 50/50. My sweet-spot for Supershow Blue is 60 ink/40 water.

Helps control feathering, increases dry-time, does not really affect the color.

WOW, that's amazing. I'll have to try that.

I have Sherwood Green carts which I use in pens that don't have converters. I love the ink/shade, but it's not waterproof, so I don't use it much. I'll be replacing it with Noodler's Green Marine and gifting the carts, I think.

I meant to say that it DECREASES dry time.

The PR Sherwood Green is one of my go-to inks - in my fine-nib Phileas, it lays down a wet line without pressing too much; dries quickly; has adequate shading and suitable contrast between paper and ink…

My other go-to inks are PR Chocolat and Noodler's Ottoman Azure.

Interesting timing for this thread. I just loaded my green Hemisphere with PR Sherwood Green last night after a few months of break from it. I really like this ink, it's a nice colour, dark enough to photocopy easily, just a hint of blue which I like, and nice shading in my Hemisphere and Phileas (both fine nibs). I have a medium Philieas I may try it in after reading this thread, I rarely ink that pen because I find it much too broad. I don't have any problems with feathering or bleed-through on the super-cheap paper we use in log books at work, and a lot of inks do give me trouble on this paper.

I have to chime in defense of PR Sherwood Green here. This is my favorite color ink. It works well in at least 6 different moleskins I've had (no feathering), using a particularly wet writing pen (VP with stub nib). It is great on Black and Red and HP 32lb. It is very slow drying on post-its -I'm guessing on the order of two months to dry! It is NOT waterproof, don't even think of sweating near this ink, that to me is the big issue.

That's interesting. If you look at the first "scan", you can definately see the difference between the ink performance, with the same pen.... hmmmm like I said... berrrry interesting.....
