I'm not a Montblanc aficionado, but this Jules Verne pen caught my eye. I'm drawn to the Italian pens as smooth writers and I would surely USE this pen and not gaze upon it. smile.gif Any opinions/experiences you have would be appreciated. Thank you!

I love this pen. I just got it recently and its one of those pens that pictures dont do it justice. It writes like a champ, my only issue is its too heavy to post, but if you are not a poster, then you will love it...
Here is a review I did of it recently...

The Vern is very nice. One of the MB's unique design.

Great review! Thanks. For some reason I couldn't find it prior to posting this. Weird...

Are there other Montblancs in this style or size? I don't worry about posting balance because I don't post my pens...

The Verne is every bit equal to the David Oscarson Celestial but its price is lower and it is piston filled. The nib is a five star nib, so like Bryant said go for it.

I would say the cool blue starwalker would be the closest, but they are really one of a kind in my opinion.

I don't like the JV, although I do like the colour(s) blue with "silver".
I like the Marcel Proust much more. I guess there is no real fair comparison here but the Proust is the first MB in this writer's category which I myself would buy.

Now for a nice blue/silver job you might want to consider this:

Aurora Optima 996-C in blue

Lots o' luck

The Mare is even "bluer," but I prefer the darker variegated blues of the Optima.

Fred!

Funny that you said that. Actually not at all funny, but I really do prefer the Mare and that'd be the next Aurora I'd buy (I already have a bordeaux Optima) because I (again "I myself") think that "gold" fits more perfectly with blue than does "silver". And that "red" needs "silver" more than "gold".
At the moment, it is only a matter of dough.

Per Bryant's post: Aren't the Starwalker nibs not so great? The don't seem to have the same "sauce" as the others? Or are looks deceiving?

I think it depends on what you want. Almost all starwalker nibs I have used have been hard as a rock with no give. My wife absoululty loves mine, but she also does not like using FPS... If you mean, looks, its just a different design. I like the look, I think it goes with the pen. But, if you asked me what I liked better 149 nib or Starwalker, I would say 149 every time...

Just to add... If you are comparing the starwalker nib to an MB "LE"... It looses every time as well...
