Full Version: Review: Ron Z's Section Sealant

As a mostly vintage eyedropper user, I have always just sorta counted on having inky fingers.
If I've been a good little snailer and written several letters I change pens and ink colors frequently.

My daughter says my fingers look as though "I've been wrestling with the Mary Kay cosmetics lady"after 4-5 letters! wub.gif

I contacted Ron about the new sealant. Would it be ok for an eyedropper? Would it be a chore to open the pen to re-fill?
Would it do any damage to hard rubber?

Ron as always took time to explain the uses of it and assured me that opening would be a breeze if I applied a little heat.
Well I kinda miss the inky fingers but NONE of the several pens I've used it on have had any leaks and just a touch of heat from a hair dryer opens it right up.
I've not re-applied the sealant and they continue to hold firmly.

I want to encourage you to try the sealant for this purpose.
Other than Silcone I've not found anything better!

RON,
Thank you for your generosity with your valuable time!

no affiliation other than as a very grateful customer!

I would also like to add that I have been using this sealant now for a couple of weeks and I am extremely happy with it. It is VERY sticky but much more pliable at room temp than Giovanni's sealant. The color is much lighter and the smell is more agreeable.

I have used it on about 4 Vacumatics and 2 Sheaffer plunger fillers and the only issue I have had was on one of the plunger fillers. I used too much and the day after I restored the pen it was sitting in the sun in my office. I got a touch of stickiness off the section when I picked up the pen, but a quick wipe with a cloth and all gone.

This stuff heats up quickly and is liquid very fast which speeds up my workflow on restoring pens which require this sealant. I have not used it on any safeties as of this time, but that would be another great application for it.

Thanks Ron for bringing this to market. I know I will be using this exclusively from now on.

Cheers,
Sean

Ron's sealent packs the charm of being the stuff actually used by one of the Big 4 makers for decades. Something to be said for that smile.gif

I bought the first jar that Ron sold. The stuff works better than everything else I've tried. Sean's description is accurate; but one thing he missed mentioning is that because Ron is using the same top-quality ingredients that Sheaffer used, there's none of the gritty sediment that I've seen in other sealants. It's the only gooey sealant in my studio now, and I even dug some out to fill an old pill container for my pen-show tool kit. But let's not call the stuff section sealant, folks, because it's good for so much more than sections. It's thread sealant.

It turns out that this stuff does a very nice job of holding Parker 51 and Vac jewels in place. Tacky enough that they won't unscrew on their own, but will release with a little heat. I'm still finding uses......

Ron,

I used it for 51 jewels before I even put it on threads! Great stuff!
If you have not had a chance to get this sealant, GET IT! Its the best stuff out there.
