Full Version: Unknown Pelikan with problems

Hi all,
I have the Pelikan shown in the attached file. It is a bit old, something like 8 years, I found it somewhere at home. I would like to make it working again, in order to bring it with me in my backpack: I also have 2 Go!, but I don't want anything to happen to them :-)

The problems of this unknown Pelikan are the following:
- when charged with Pelikan cartridges, the ink flows slowly, maybe there is ink clogged inside (I remember using once a black ink of an unknown brand)
- I am not able to remove the nib and the other components, they completely fixed. Am I correct, to try to pull the nib along with the underlying plastics?
- the pen seems to be too short for a converter, but I may be able to gain some more space, I only need to remove the clear part on the end of the pen. Is it possible or is it fused?

Thank you very much.

It sounds like it needs a good cleaning. That would be a good thing to start with for it. Maybe with a little bit of mild dish soap or a weak ammonia solution to remove any clogs and dried ink.

Thank you for the answer.

I managed to open the first part of the pen, so I removed the nib and the plastic "reservoir" (I don't know the technical name).
Everything was clean, unfortunately. However, I noticed a strange detail: the nib has the slit with a circle at the end, but it seems that the final circle has not been properly cut away (check the pictures, it is clearly pressed, but just not enough to remove the metal completely).

Another two details I noticed:
- the ink *seems* to have a "slow start"
- if I press firmly, the pen writes a thicker line, while, if I simply let it flow on the paper, the line is very (too?) thin. This M nib writes, with pressure applied to it just like a ballpoint pen, as the M nib of the Pelikan Go! I have.

I don't know what to do... and I haven't yet managed to unscrew the end of the pen, to find a way to make some space for the converter.

I noticed the picture was not shown in my first post, so I uploaded it along with other two:

I am not familiar with this model Pelikan. If no one here has any suggestions, you might try asking over in the repair forum. Also, there have been some threads about increasing ink flow that the search function should find for you.

Ok, thank you. I checked and I found some hints I will be trying after some more testing: I reassembled the nib in the FP and now it writes a bit thicker.

However, I would still like to know the model of this Pelikan.
Are there websites with a complete database of Pelikan pens?
