I have a question about the blue diamond vacumatics. I understand these pens carried a lifetime warranty and were considered, I think, a higher grade vacumatic. My question is, what were there actual differences between the blue diamond pens and the Juniors- were they in fact better pens in some way?

The reason I ask is that I just got a third generation, blue diamond, golden pearl, took it outside to look at it in the sunlight, and instantly lost interest in my other pens. I'd like to at least get a first and second generation-- golden pearl and azure being my colors of choice, and I'm wondering about the blue diamond vs. non blue diamond issue. Thanks.

The Juniors/non-blue-diamond ones came in more colors than the Majors in the first and second generations, but.... that's all I know.

Personally I think the Azure Blue Vacs are the most beautiful pens on the planet! wub.gif I'd love to get my hands on a good, clean Azure Blue Major.... drool.gif

The differences between same sized high line & low line pens are cosmetic. The working parts (the nib and filler unit) are identical.

Also most blues are third generation as they were only produced the last year of second generation run and none in first gen.

Essentially same pens with differences mostly in trim appearance and price point.

Some of the early Juniors are done in wrapped vs bored celluloid, perhaps more fragile, in theory.

Note that blue diamond appeared in early 1939 so all earlier pens- high line or economy line- are non-BD pens.

Thanks all. That pretty much clears it up for me. Now, let's see what's going on over at vacumania.
