Hi,

I bought a Waterman Ideal desk pen and base at an antique/junk shop. The pen is marked "Waterman Ideal," but the socket has no markings that I've been able to find. Both appear to be BHR as the pen section has browned slightly.

While the pen fits deeply into the socket, it has a good bit of wiggle room. In fact, it feels as if there's very little friction with the socket - as if the socket is too wide for the pen.

Does anyone have an opinion about whether the pen and socket match? Do other Waterman desk pens have a sloppy fit with their sockets? What potential problems could this cause? Any help would be appreciated.
