Good morning everyone

Typical new person here, with a rather poor e-bay habit.

I have always used fountain pens, since being young at school (some 30 odd years ago) and always have an everyday pen to hand. Nowadays its i ridiculously expensive Conway Stewart, a new type, but I also have about a dozen other pens, ranging from older Conways, a marvelous Skyline, to the odd cheapo bought for one reason or another.

I also love to play with ink, I have mixed Penman green with Sheaffer black to get a dark green-black for years now.

People know me by inky fingures and the odd spot on my clothes.

I find using a biro rather like drinking beer from a child's plastic cup.

I've always found most greens a little bright, too. There are a couple of dark greens in the Noodler's Ink range you might like to try - Sequoia and Zhivago - both available from my UK webstore.

Welcome, Greg. The number of UK members seems to be growing and from my own experience everyone is made very welcome here (unlike certain other fora that I will not mention).

I agree with your statements about green ink, but luckily between the various brands available there seems to be something for everyone!

Keep away from eBay though. Much better purchases can be made at WES meetings!

WES = The Writing Equipment Society.

A quote from the homepage:

"The Writing Equipment Society, established in 1980, has a membership of around 600 of whom 150 are overseas members, and is devoted to the conservation, study and collection of all types of writing equipment and associated material. Our members' interests cover all aspects of writing equipment and include pens, both ancient and modern, pencils of all types and materials, nibs, inkwells, stamp boxes, quill cutters, seals, writing slopes, letter scales, paper knives and ephemera."

The Society holds meetings for its members 3 or 4 times a year plus regional meetings on a more local level. Its main event is the AGM, usually held in November. The next meeting is in Birmingham on 12th February 2006. Details here.
