Full Version: Missing jewel?

One of my 51's ( rolled gold cap and brownish-red cap, 'semi- hooded' nib- is it a 51?) has a curious indentation at the tip of the cap. Is there a jewel missing? It also has a small white 'M' on the barrel. Though my main concern is the imaginary/missing jewel, can someone explain the 'M'?
* The 'M' is a bit smaller than you see it typed on the screen.

Semi hooded nib does not sound like a 51..
Could you post a picture...
The small white M on the barrel could be the nib size... what is left of the factory chalk markings

If it's a Parker 45, that would explain the indentation (normal) and the semi-hooded nib.

If by on the barrel you mean below the nib, that'd be a 45 too...
