The Lamy Accent seems like an underdog to me.
The 2 we hear the most about are the safari (everyone must know the name!!!), the 2000, and not too far behind, the Studio.
There are also some obscure single version pen.
But the Accent is available in about 12 versions of different style, has the same nib as most other lamy (some in gold, some in steel).
If it has the same nib as the other workhorse we talk about, and can be found in so many color and style variation, why don't we hear about it more?
Would like your opinion whether you have tried it, owned it or not.
Thanks
nick who like his accent!

Nick:
I have Accent rollerballs and ball pens in the matte black and the "brilliant" finish and I have praised the design and the refill on this board a lot. The pens are attractive and very solid. I purchased all of these before re-joining the fountain pen world last summer.
I think the fountain pens look great and may in the future trade some of my ball points and roller stock in order to get one...
They only thing I have not loved with the Accent is how slippery the grip insert section is with the colored metalic finishes (red, blue). I had to find the burrwood grip pieces for all of my pens so I could hold them - and those little rings are not cheap (about $10 each). MY advice to anyone considering an Accent is - try them first - make sure the grip section is to your liking. (There are also supposed to be some Grey rubber ones out there, but I have never tried one of those in person.)

I own an Accent Brilliant, with 14ct nib, and I have also praised it in this forum. The diameter is perfect for me (quite big compared to my other pens), the grip is OK (metallic, I have not tested any other), and the nib writes very well, smooth as butter, it is an M and I find it a bit too thick for my taste. It's quite an interesting pen, the cap is threaded and the way the section dismounts from the barrel is very original.
It's quite heavy, IMO, so you'd better try it.
I am thinking of getting an F nib or section so I can swap both, this pen will see more action with an F nib. Also, I might get a bp and/or a multipen to complete a set...

This pen is near the top of my wanted list. I thinking about purchasing one in a matte black finish with the burrwood grip section and an EF nib. The only complaint I've ever heard about this pen is that the brilliant finish has been known to wear off, much like the finish on the Lamy Al-Star. Other than that it seems like a great pen.

I have a matte black one with 4 or 5 grips.
Frankly, for some reason, mine doesn't have as good a ink flow as my Safaris and so it doesn't get used as much.
Nice solid, heavy pen though.

I also wonder why the Studio gets mentioned in nearly every discussion, while the Accent (which has a screw cap, by the way, and gold nibs, too) gets omitted (although there are a few reviews on this board). Maybe the Accent isn't as widely sold in the US as the Studio.

Disclaimer: The Writing Desk is a Lamy retailer.
One issue is price. The Accent is approximately 30% more expensive than the Studio (both steel and gold nibbed versions). In particular, the Accent 98 - the black lacquered version with 14k gold nib - is nearly the price of the 2000. Since the 2000 is such a highly regarded classic, the Accent 98 is not such a high seller.
However, with their gold nibs, both the Studio 68 and Accent 98 offer good value for money.

I was wondering the very same thing yesterday. Certainly there are expensive Accents, but the cheaper models come in at about 50 USD, which is less than many sell the Studio for. After initially disliking the Accent I've grown very keen on it as a daily user.

The price may be one of the reasons.
Also, when I showed the model to my girlfriend, I mentioned the fact that you can change the grip. She found that pretty cool... until she asked where were the other ones...
Maybe they should have included more than one when we buy it...
