Full Version: Two new additions from the Miami pen show!

While I was a little let down with the selection of MB eye candy at the Miami show, I was forced to purchase a couple of new additions to the family which I am quite proud of:

MB Faulkner Writers Edition:

This is one I was never impressed with, until I actually handled one. The depth of the finish is amazing and the symmetry to the design when posted is fabulous!

MB Cool Blue Starwalker:

This is another one that was never really high on my list until I handled it, then I noticed it is not just blue resin, it has beautiful distinct waves in the resin which shimmer under the right light.

Sometimes you have to go beyond the pictures, beyond the display case and really take a hard look to see something that strikes your fancy, lesson learned.

Congratulations for your new pens

Very nice!

I like the way you take pictures as well.

How does the blue star walker feel (metal gripping section)?

I really love the deep blue finish (which I think is transparent blue laquer of an engraved body) but I always thought that all the bright silver pieces (gripping section plus end of barrel) are a little bit too much ? ..I really need to check out those pens in real life.

What nibs did you get?

Enjoy

I actually like the silver pieces to offset the blue, although the metal section is definitely a drawback, too slick. I am not overly thrilled at using a cart in it but give me time. I got the Starwalker in a medium nib and the Faulkner in a fine. I have noticed that the Starwalker is a little more of a rigid nib as compared to my 146s, 136 and other WEs, although it does write nicely.

Very nice! Two pens that are on my list!!!

Pictures of the blue Skywalker just can't capture what it really looks like. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. The depth is unlike anything I've seen.

Allan-

I must have missed this post for some reason. I, too, didn't care much for the Faulkner from posted photos. While down here in El Paso del Norte, I stopped by Airline International and they had a couple of Faulkner FPs, a BP and at least one set. I decided right then and there that I really liked the FP for some of the reasons you mentioned. The metalwork on the cap and barrel also reminds me of the Eversharp-Wahl Skyline--okay maybe it's a stretch, but it certainly fits the timeframe, and I very much like the color differentiation on this pen.

But the point you make is one to be well taken...photos are great, but one should really assess the pen in his/her own hands.

Hey Bry-

I just saw your new signature line...Seriously dude. Put a Montblanc in your signature! I'm working on a signature line like Allan's with all the stars. I just need to get home to line it all up!!!!

Eric

PS. I'm going home for my 'break' between 8-11 August. Remind me about the Dragon MB closeups and the photos of all the WEs you asked me about.
Allan
I don't know niksch, if I put a MB in my signature line someone my get the crazy idea I like MBs or something! wink.gif

Pretty pens, the starwalker has a nice shape and nifty looking nib. How do you like the metal grip compared to their precious resin? MB makes pipes? The M is there but don't see the sudopod or whatever you call the white star.

Allan, your photography is so much better than mine. Must be a Montblanc camera too ya? tongue.gif

I am not too wild about the metal section, and to be honest, if the pen was not such a beaut I would trade it in on something else. No, MB did not make the pipe, I just thought it was interesting because it has the M on it and it seemed to match the timeperiod of the author. It just "felt right" with the pen.

No, my camera is not a MB, but thanks for the compliment :-)

It is an incredibly beautiful pen. What I like about the Starwalker is the neat line of the clip in profile.
