I recently purchased a fine writing MB 244G and wondered about the "G" -- is it the obvious "Germany" (perhaps to distinguish it from Danish manufacture?)or has it some more esoteric meaning..

nice idea ........ but the "G" stands for "glanz" (= glossy) and indicated a high polished body.
