Me? I blame a friend for enthusing about fountain pens in her LJ.

Back which I was younger, I had a fairly cheap Parker, a Sheaffer and IIRC my mum's Waterman. Then I kind of lost interest, and when forced to write rather than use a keyboard I scribbled with whatever rubbish came to hand.

I'm a musician and a songwriter, and recently acquired and carry with me everywhere a Moleskine, which has lead to an insane bout of productivity - 8 songs in a month. About the same time, G started enthusing about pens, and I yielded to temptation and bought a Lamy Safari.

I find a fountain pen does two things - it slows me down, and makes me write neater, for one, and it also makes me WANT to write. Currently I carry the Moleskine, and a pair of Safaris loaded with red and either blue or black, in whatever jacket I'm wearing.

Now - well, even 2 pens for each pocket of a pair of combat trousers doesnt come close....... seriously.... and it was them what made me do it.
