i found these now-discontinued, new-old-stock rotring 600 old-style FPs on sale in my local bookstore here in manila yesterday, and they were so good and so cheap (at P1,400 or US$31 each!) that i bought two of them and might end up buying more:

You should buy all they have and resell them. You will make your money back. Especially on the knurled-grip version. Check the ebay prices, they routinely sell for more than $100.

my filipino pen-friends must be scouring the stores too by now; each branch has only two or three of these in stock. i'll see if i can find a few more (the other branches are across the city and manila traffic is a pain to slog through) but if i can, i'll buy up a few, put a couple more aside, then sell the rest. will let you know.

or rotring hell i guess these pens are selling at deep discounts because they never sold well to begin with, so the dealer's just disposing of the inventory. we also had a 50% off sale on all auroras some time ago--too bad i didn't pick up anything from that one! the only brands of FPs left on the shelves in any number here are parker, waterman, sheaffer, and cross.
