Full Version: 1750 Tuckie

Many moons ago, as part of a multi-pen transaction, I acquired a black Sheaffer white dot tuckie, Triumph nib, Vac fill with blind cap anchored to a ball-socket type fitting on the stainless shaft, rather than a thread, and the body stamped "1750". Unfortunately, it came without a cap. What would be the correct cap, black, metal, either? And (I dare to ask) what would be the reasonable replacement cost for the correct cap (I fear many times more than what I paid for the pen body). It seems that "1750" is a rather high price for this era pen, though I have no idea of the precise date of manufacture and the effect of inflation at the time. mellow.gif

For $17.50, the pen was probably a Crest, and it would have a cap like this one:

I'm not positive on this because the pen shown here was made in 1948, and Sheaffer had stopped imprinting price codes by then.

Thank you, Richard. From reading your informative site (which I probably should have done first headsmack.gif ), I see that regarding white dot, Vac-Fil Tuckies, you indicate that the Sentinel’s white dot is at the end of the barrel, on the blind cap, which is what corresponds to my example. So could it be a Sentinel (and, if so, is the shown stainless with gold trim cap correct for my pen?)? Or is the imprinted "1750" a problem with this interpretation (is the Sentinel the lower end model?)? Thanks!

I can only speak to two of the Tuckys I have. One has the gold/Crest cap Richard mentions and it shows 1750 on the barrel. The Sentinel I have has the silver and gold cap and has 1250 on it. So I'm guessing the info from Richard is correct.
