Full Version: Ink Match to Blackberry Jam?

...you're standing over the stove cooking blackberry jam and think, hmmm that would make a nice ink color!

Here's a swatch on the Bounty paper towel next to a smear on an index card. (Sorry, closest things I had by the stove!)

I would really love something close to the color on the paper towel. Any suggestions?

Isn't the Dumas FPN ink around that color?
jlh8114
That's very close! Do you know if it is still available?

It's my understanding that all 3 FPN inks are still available. I think you can find info in the for sale forum near the bottom of the list.

Thank you! I just sent the note off! Now, back to canning the jam!

Rats! And here I was going to offer my spare bottle of Dumas in exchange for a big jar of blackberry jam! wink.gif
(not that I'm allowed to have blackberry jam... embarrassed_smile.gif )

We make it with Splenda and unsweetened pear juice - no added sugar. PM with an address and I'll figure out how to send you a jar.

I find myself doing that sort of thing all the time. Anyway, I too would suggest Tulipe Noire (and even if it's not quite what you're looking for, it's pretty marvelous ink anyway). Perhaps even better, you can also make similar colours yourself by adding a little black to various reds. Take a look at Limner's marvelous amended chart showing what you can do with just three Noodler's colours plus black; there are several colours there which you may want to try:

savarez beat me to it, so I'll second J Herbin's Larmes de Cassis, though I think the FPN Tulipe Noire is a good match, too. I'd say the J Herbin dries a little lighter (maybe halfway between the dark and the light samples) while the FPN TN dries down just a touch darker than the darker sample. Very close, though.

(At least ime. biggrin.gif)

The J Herbin is in a Preppy ED and the FPN TN is in a plum Parker "51" with a medium nib, which may affect the color. I love them both, though I lean a bit more toward the FPN TN because I love rich saturated colors.

I'm going to have to agree with savarez too! Nature has such a wonderful palette, if only there were enough inks to match!

You are too cool!

My problem isn't the sugar content, however. What a really nice offer, though. I appreciate it.
