What are the advantages of joining the OMAS Society, if any?

You get a shiny black card, a perfect match for your AmEx Centurion Card.

I guess I have not been a member enough years to get the free cleaning cloth, but I do get the occasional mailing or email announcing a new pen.

Whether you get the stupid cleaning cloth or not is a willy-nilly thing. I got it a year after signing up together with a little writing pad and some high-gloss brochure. Ever since I haven't heard from the "Omas Society." I guess it's a convenient way to pool data of customers.
Maybe I am a bit pessimistic here, but I'd rather have them offer their pens a bit cheaper and gladly forgo the chintzy cleaning cloth.

I am not a member of the OMAS society so i don't know what the advantages are (not many from what the guys mention) but i do have the OMAS society pen and it is a wonderful pen.

I tried to become a member and after countless email exchanges, resetting passwords and waiting, I gave up. They must not want me as a member. I did get the nice cloth and notepad though. Otherwise, no dice.

Maybe if they offered an old-style Paragon specially made from the Arlecchino celluloid as a reward for membership, I'd see some advantages.

I stand corrected. I just got a very neat, big beach towel, with OMAS emblazoned on the front side. This has more to due with the fact that I bought a new Arco, and less to do with the 'society'.
I live in New Mexico. What am I going to do with a beach towel? It is very nice though.

You could sell it on the marketplace, and give everyone a chance to chime in on the towel's fair market value!

Congrats, but I failed to see the association of a beach towel with a fountain pen; for ink spill perhaps?

I might just do that (sell it on the board).
I hope that it isn't an accessory to handle the 'leakage' problems that some people have reported here from time to time..................

Are you talking about the cloth? Wow, I didn't know that you were a dwarf....

Did you escape from the world Jonathan Swift?
PS: Just saw the the towel reference originates from Doug C.... So I'll rededicate my comment to him.

Hey, watch the comments, I'm sensitive about my height.
Actually, it IS a beach towel. If you on Mottishaw's site, you'll see that it is a special offer through the summer.

Ok, saw it, it's a real towel. I thought it was an ironic way of referring to the polishing cloth.

Jeez, if I should have hurt you in any way, I apologize. It's a pen forum! I accidentally overlooked the beach towel posts and thought that handlebar was referring to the polishing cloth as a beach towel. Hence my comments. No malice aforethought involved here! Let's grow up (pun intended or not, you may choose for yourself!) and talk and enjoy pens.

BTW, I just had a conversation with JellyBelly-sad to say that she has been looking for a Piquadro pen case (referencing back to my earlier snide remark), called Joon and they told her that they have discontinued all of their pen cases. No affiliation, but Fountainpen Hospital seems to have the 1, 2 and 3 pen cases in stock.
Also, I, too, am 5'8".

I don't think I was clear in my statement. She was told by Joon that Piquadro is discontinuing the manufacture of these cases.
