I realize this is going to be different for every person but please tell us your flushing habits when using Noodlers Bulletproof ink. I started to notice my 149 skipping after using Noodler's BP black in the pen for about 2 months without flushing. I had filled the pen about 3 times in this time period.
So please tell us what your flushing habits are. Thanks for any and all replies.

For me, about every three weeks. Because I have a lot of pens, I tend to keep a fair number inked, so I tend not to fill them completely full, either.

With almost all pens that I have inked, I try to flush them every 2 weeks. With Noodler's, I'm especially careful to do this. I've never had a problem with Noodler's or any other ink clogging pens.

Couple months.

Don't write tons of pages each day but have 15+ pen filled... only fill one squeeze or part of a cartridge. As a result, takes awhile to run out ink. If the ink starts to get sticky, skip, too dark, I add some water. On a squeeze, aero type filler, hold the nib up, very gently push out air, pen is usually low on ink so not a problem. Maybe tap/flick on filler to get ink down to bottom away from the nib. Holding in squeezer, flip up and suck up some water from a glass. May do more than once.

May even let pen set nib up for sometime to let water get to any ink stuck in the end and remix. With a cartridge may add a fair amount of water. Since Noodlers is so saturated, the ink is fine, and I've gotten some interesting colors of lighter Air Corp, Navy, Napalm...

I normally only fully flush when I'm putting a pen away.

Also gotten kind of strange in my ways. Don't like to put any extra amounts of ink down the sink into the sewer, or my case, septic system. Some poor slob down the river has to try to clean out my ink before she can drink. Or in my case, I'm 90 feet up the hill from the Bay and Straits. The fish, shells and plants don't the extras either. So try to use up every drop.

I keep an eye on all of my inked pens whether they are filled with bullet proof inks or anything else. When the point, slit, or feed slots begin to look groaty, I flush the pen before the next fill. Highly saturated inks get flushed oftener than the more diluted ones like Skrip or Quink.

Once a month works fine for me.

Did flushing your MB149 solve the problem?

I flush most of my pens at least once every 2 months - sooner if they show any sign of misbehaving.

Whenever I'm refilling or changing the ink. Could be anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending upon how much I write.

I have had Noodler's BB in a Pelikan 200 for about 8 months. No flushing; I just pump the ink in and out a few times each time I fill. No problem whatever, even when I leave the pen for a few weeks. (I just got back from a three-week trip and it started right up, no skipping at all, but it had been stored flat in a drawer.)

A lot probably depends on the nib, the feeder, and whether the cap retards evaporation. Most of my pens need a refill or a dip in water to get them started after a two-three week hiatus, even with less saturated inks such as Diamine, but not the Pelikan with Noodlers Black, or another Pelikan 200 with a Binder Italifine Cursive and PR Black Magic Blue.

It would seem that there is no general rule. Some pens will skip if not used for a day or two; others will flow freely even after weeks in the desk stand.

I flush my pen at every fill, and generally don't worry about it - unless I'm using iron-gall ink, in which case I flush within a week of filling, and don't let it sit around unused.

I flushed heavily then refilled with Montblanc black which feathers horribly. After reading these posts I think I may continue to use Nooder's but I will flush every time I need to fill the pen which is about every 3 weeks.

I flush all my pens whenever I fill them, whether the ink is the same or not. Not sure why I got into that habit, but I'm pretty consistent about it, which must be all to the good because I rarely have ink issues with my pens.

This to me sounds like the best possible plan. You really can't go wrong if you are flushing regularly.

I got two pens I really use, one Sailor 1911 Naginata Togi and a Visconti Wall Street LE.
I got loads of other pens, but I don't tend to use them, so they lay celan in a box/drawer to wait for their time.
But the two I do use, I never flush. The Sailor uses cardridges, and about three to four a week, so it doesn't need cleaning
the Visconti a refil every other week orso, but it does fil with a lot of power and doesn't need any cleaning either.

Sooo basicly I only clean when putting a pen to rest for a long time, but otherwise hardly ever.

My main Sheaffer Triumph XF nib with Bulletproof Black will get flushed 4 times a year whether it needs it or not.
