I need help making a decission. I have 4 vac fills that need repairing.
A brown 1250
A gray 1000
A gray 1250 tucky no clip and a
Brown with the transparent insert inside.

Which one do I repair first?
Do I get someone to do the "fountainbel cartridge" thing?
or go a different route?

Depends. Are you planning to sell the pen after it is restored, or will you keep/use it. I'm personally very partial to Tuckaways, so I would probably have that one restored, then keep/use it.
Though I have no issues with the Fountainbel system, I prefer to have my vac-fillers restored with new seals.

Regards, greg

My preference is to replace the packing material from the inside with a synthetic rubber 0 ring. I think that this will give the longest life without significantly altering the appearance or design of the filler. It works very well, giving a fill of 2/3 to 3/4 full with one stroke.

The fact that Richard and I repair the pens this way was one of the reasons why we were selected to be repair centers for vintage Sheaffer pens.

Hi,
Dillon Ang is actually installing my cartridges in the US.
Alternatively I can do it for you at a cost of $35.00 per pen, registered shipment back to you included.
My work is guaranteed for one year, shipment cost excluded.
I've already installed over 80 cartridges in pens from other collectors, several of them being active members of this board.
The fountainbel cartridge installation features the advantage that piston & rod seals can be replaced within 10 minutes from the blindcap side. No drilling out of the glued O ring seal back-up ring neccesary, no critical re-glueing
Regards, Francis
