Full Version: Ink in Cap
The Fountain Pen Network > General Pen Topics > Repair Q&A
Slick
My Visconti honey almond Opera Club has collected some ink in the cap. Since this pen is semi-transparent, this has made the cap somewhat unsightly. Any suggestions on removing the ink from the cap and preventing future occurrences will be appreciated!
Thanks,
Slick
His Nibs
Hi Slick,

A quick rinse under the faucet, followed by inserting some paper towel will do the trick.

It can be a bit difficult to always keep a fountain pen cap ink-free, as jostling of the pen can always express some ink from the nib...especially if a pen has a slip or click cap.

So, you want to keep bumping to a minimum lticaptd.gif

Also, ink viscosity will make a difference in how easily ink will be deposited with a cap.

DO resist the temptation to try to remove the inner cap. It screws in, and is held in place by an adhesive. The inner cap is adjusted (screwed in and out) to adjust the rotation of the barrel when you put the pen together so that the flats line up with each other. Remove it, and you'll have a heck of a time getting things lined up again.
