Hi all

Just a quick scan to show my current green stash laid out together......
rakim
Thanks Calliej. Not seen this done before for the Diamine greens. I think i'm just going to have to get myself an Ultra Green bottle soon thumbup.gif

I also find the Diamine's Umber to be an umber-green and use it as such.

Thanks...nice to see them all together. Love your handwriting.
Diamine has some of the best green inks. I also love Umber and Dark Green is also nice (but not so dark). And Kelly Green is very nice too.

I have had umber on my list for a while..... and after calikens review would also like the dark green - it looks quite blue.....

Thanks for the wonderful comparison. Personally, I love the Diamine Emerald but I have found that it bleeds severely. Do you experience this, too. Do the other Diamene greens bleed as bad as the Emerald?
calliej
I didnt have any bleeding problems with the Emerald but I was using it from a cartridge so that could be why. I do have bleedthrough with the Ultra Green on certain paper and if I use the Woodland in one particular pen - but otherwise its not too bad.

I made the mistake of trying to address a jiffy envelope today with the Ultra Green - looked like a spider had crawled over it! But the teal finished it up without any problems.

Thanks for this review - it's really great to see all the colors next to each other! I can't wait for my sample of Woodland Green to arrive.

Can someone please tell me where I can find a bottle of Ultra Green?

You can buy all their colours (and have some fun) here:

(unless, like me, you prefer to buy from shops, but I can't help there.)

I have mixed a green/black for a number of years, even from when green Quink was sold, to Emerald Penman and then to Lamy green, usually mixed with plain old Quink black but with a few variations on this. I get messy doing this but I quite enjoy the 'hit-or-miss' nature of it. However, to make things easier I've tried Umber and found it to be the smoothest on the nib that I have ever used. Its made my old pen feel like butter. Perhaps I'll scan a review, but I love the way it shades and flows.

My only issue is that I thought 'Umber' was brown!

Greg
I'm glad I'm not the only one - it has really perplexed me
Greg
I have now made Umber my official, regular use colour and have bought a large size bottle. I continue to enjoy its smoothness in use and the colour is (almost!) perfect for requirements. The rate at which I got through bottles of green Lamy, even when mixed with other ink, the next bottle of Umber will be on its way pretty soon.

In this respect I would also add that, for such a nice ink, Diamine is very reasonably priced.

My only other thought is that I have yet to try Noodlers Marine Green. Looks nice!

Noodler's Marine Green is very different from Diamine Umber.

I admit I don't care for umber - not bright enough, a little too washed-out and tan looking.

I don't have any photos of Umber, but I've got a shot of Marine Green (compared with Pilot Petit1 dark green):

I took it in sunlight with no flash and adjusted the levels so that it looks, at least on my screen, very accurate to how it looks on paper.
