Hi everyone, my name is Lance and I'm new to FPN.
A friend of mine recently gave me two old Parker fountain pens. I found out the model of one (Parker 45), but I can't find the other. My only clue is 585, but I can't seem to find it on the Internet.
A webpage link would be very helpful. smile.gif
Thanks!

You are a very lucky man to have such a good friend.
The pen in the pictures looks to me to be Parker 85.
This is an uncommon pen that could sell for a nice sum.

If you take a picture of the clip I will be able to tell you for sure as this model has a unique clip.
bluemoon
This does look like a French Parker 85. 585 denotes 14k or 58.5% gold, the nib is made of it. If you post a clip
photo, then it can be identified for sure.
Take a look here....... http://parkerpens.org/...... go to the drop down menu in the
left side and select Parker 85.

A very nice pen indeed... heavy and quite big, and they are not the easiest to come by.

My guess a GP Parker 85 in good condition would go for 100$-150$

Here's a picture of the clip.

I went to parkerpens.org and I think it really is the one.
Thanks for all your help.
I really am lucky. Lol.

Now I have another question. My Parker 45 is like an "on-off" pen. It works fine, but then suddenly it's gonna run out of ink. I have to take out the cartridge, wipe it, and shake out some of the excess ink on the nib, and then put it back. What should I do to prevent this from happening?

What's that? Hehe. Could you link me to a picture or forum? smile.gif
The penner
You should keep a bottle of ink at hand, just dip the pen when it stops working. You might not want to get your nib dirty... something for you to think about thumbup.gif

Have you tried flushing it clean with some water?

A nice and thorough cleaning of the innards with flushing works many times.
