As far as it concerns my favorite WE there are 4.
Agatha Christie: Unique clip, legentary pen
Marcel Proust:Octagon shape
Jules Verne: Heavy pen, nice color, good material
Franz Kafka:Unique shape, peculiar color, Metamorphosis it is a title of Kafka's book. This idea is applied to the shape of the pen. At the bottom the pen is square and at the top is circular.
My worst WE is Oscar Wilde.

My favorite is the Hemingway closely followed by the Christie, Poe, Wilde and Kafka.
Also especially the Voltaire and Dostoevsky look much better and elegant than on pictures.
My least favorite would be the Cervantes, Schiller and Dickens. Also the Dumas seems to show too much decoration.
My favorite writers editions are the ones which look like regular vintage production MBs (with varitaions of color and size) which don't show too much decoration being a "theme" pen.
Also I dislike most of the laquer finished (except it has transparent laquer over nice negravings like on the Jules Verne; that I like).
I'm pretty undecided on the Woolf; just does not look like a "true" MB (maybe the design will grow on me).
Cheers

Maybe a tall order this and not sure how you would do it but a small thumbnail sized picture would be a great addition to this poll. My memory is not that good and it involves me going through a load of collected MB sales brochures to make my choice but what a great excuse to spend a few hours surrounded by pictures of fantastic writing instruments....... actually forget the picture idea !!

Actually MB still shows all the writers edition on their official website; I'm also always confusing some names and models :-)

here is for what i voted:
hemingway: because it is based on the legendary 139 model and it is the first collectible and limited edition model made in 1992
voltaire: because it is a pen that has a subtle and discrete elegance
dumas: because it is a very nicely finished pen with a stunning body, nice clip and great nib.
proust: classic design of the 30's reminescient of MB pens in the past. Superb engraving and great nib.
verne: stunning finish and quality very comparable to david oscarson celestial model or michel perchin high end pens
my least favorite is the faulkner because it lacks originality.

My favorite-Alexanre Dumas
The Dumas is hands down the more beautiful and unique WE pen with a gorgeous HUGE nib and I have it thanks to Bryant
My least favorite -Frantz Kafka
Why oh why they did MB fused a converter and then called it a piston filler ?
Great poll Bry

For my favourite WEs, I voted for;
The Dumas, I like its marbled resin and its nib. Being based on the 139, it's classic with a twist.
The Verne; Wave guilloche overlayed with transparent blue, it has life. Overall design very symbolic and beautiful.
The Cervantes; I don't know why I like it, and noticed many don't, maybe sentiment, it was my first WE.
My least favourite;
The Schiller; I feel it's dull

Interesting that its a pretty good mix, no true favorite so far...

My favorites in order are:
- Alexandre Dumas
- Edgar Allan Poe
- Jules Verne
- Friedrich Schiller
In earlier posts I have explained my reasons for these selections.
Least favorites are:
- Charles Dickens - not aesthetically pleasing overall and the cap design just doesn't do it for me
- Virginia Woolf - the curved contour of the barrel strays from the more classical shape which I prefer.

Not to surprising as we both like most of the same kinds of pens, but even though its my least favorite... If I had a chance to get one for a good deal... I would swoop it up!

I am surprised a bit that the Hemingway has so little votes as favorite, as it seems to sell for the most consistently on ebay...
And I never thought Faulkner would be the least favorite.

When I voted Kafka as my least favorite it doesnt mean I dont like it.Just like you I would nab any WE pen for a resonable price as I love this series, love MB and to be honest all the WE pens are great, simply some are better then others.
I personaly think the Hemingway is a bit overrated and the thing that is so unique about it is that this is the first WE pen and as the first one so many (including me) wants it.
I personaly am not fond of the Faulkner either.I was thinking of voting for it as the least liked WE pen but decided not to vote for it as I nevr saw it in real life and I rather see it before I pass judgment.

What a great poll! Especially because I had to go look them all up (I only remembered about six of them), and what a treat for my eyes.
I chose Dickens as a least favorite because I don't care for the design, and nothing about it suggested Dickens the writer to me.
My favorite is the Proust. My brother has a Proust BP, and that overlay is one of the most perfect for my personal tastes I've ever seen. It doesn't have that over-swirly, oblong victorian look. It has an older look, a more symmetrical and subtle pattern that greatly appeals to me. My bro's pen, at least, isn't excessively shiny either, which I also find a plus in this particular pen, as it keeps it from looking too harsh and modern. Just a beautiful attention to detail.
My second fav is the voltaire, although I think this pen would've been stunning in a very dark, sapphire blue with that gold trim. Not a fan of old trim in general, I find that it works beautifully on this finely designed pen.
Well, that was fun!

Favorite: it's becoming harder to decide bewteen the Christie and the Proust and I'm afraid that with each recent new release, these two become more exceptional. The Hemingway is superb as well, it just looks more utilitarian than the Proust and the Christie works of art.
Least favorite: Faulkner. Besides $ this pen would be another good reason why I have no intention of collecting all of the WEs. It looks better in pictures. Ouch.

My favourites: Hemingway, Christie, Poe, Proust, Verne and Faulkner.
I voted Faulkner.
(I could vote for Hemingway, since one of my favourite fp of all time is the montblanc 139...then i prefer the original one!)
My least...Voltaire, Dostoevsky and Dickens.
I choose Dostoevsky.
But...i made a mistake...i voted Faulkner as "least" too. How can i edit my vote?

I am surprised and a bit disapointed to see that so many people dont like the Virginia Woolf.
The VW might not be the flashiest out there but it is very elegant, beautiful in its own way and more then anything else the best writer of the WE pens that I tried.
The curves of this pen makes it feels extremly comfy in the hand.

My favorite is and will be the Hemingway. It does not matter to me that I cannot afford it, that was not the question (as I read it). I like that it is based on the 139 with its classic Jazz Age design and colors. I also like the big, beautiful 149 type nib. Its current price is based on demand, and it appears a lot of people love that pen.
I like the Dumas because of its bold size. At times I do feel the pen is a bit too colorful, but, considering Dumas' time and place, its Baroque like style is appropriate. I also like the Kafka, despite the silly filling system, and I very much like the Woolf.
My least favorite is the Faulkner. I love Faulkner as a writer, hence I am so disappointed to see MB's tribute to him be so poorly designed. I think the style is way too modernist and just plain garish.

Hey Bryant. I was just re-reading the poll stats, and noticed you forgot the Oskar Wilde, 1994, in the "absolute favorite" section. It's in the least favorite, however.

I am just a little curious, many people seem to pick Faulkner as their least favorite, and until a few months ago I would have agreed but then I saw it in person, and in my own hands and that changed everything. The design I though was a little strange, a little too modern for Faulkner, more of a design for a art deco architect. Then with it in my hands I noted the depth of the opalescent resin and how it glistened in the light and thought of the depth of Faulkners characters. Posting the pen also provided a little insight, nice balance and a very interesting symmetry to it.
Of course I have had the same reaction to the Cool Blue Starwalker. Until you get one in your hands and see the wave pattern reflecting back at you, you really have never seen one.
So have all you who dislike the Faulkner actually handled one? I don't mean see it in the display case, but actually took it for a spin in your hand? If so, what do you dislike?
