I have a nib with tines not aligned. The left tine is higher than the right. How can I align the tines properly without damaging the nib? Thanks, David.

Hi David,
Just twang it with a finger nail, down towards the nib, a few times, until it is in alighnment again.
Or if you want to be more careful, push it down with a fingernail, carefully, as to push down just the one. Push it to just below the other tine, let go, and check if they are aligned. If not, repeat.
Don't push it too far, as you will then have to push it back up again, which is more difficult.
HTH, warm regards, Wim

Is that the technical term? Twang it!

Thanks for the laugh!

Hi Gato,
Yes, the new one

I thought it sounded more interesting than "flick it with your fingernail". Thatīs getting boring by now

. And it is a kind of onomatopeia, too, especially if you overdo it

.

OK, am I just old or does anyone else remember this line from an old children's show:
"Twang your magic twanger, froggie"
Sorry the first thing that came to my alleged mind when I read this post!!

Yup, the show was Andy's Gang from the 50's... with Andy Devine. I believe it was only in the New York/New Jersey area because it was on the local channel...
Was discussing this with a friend and we could not think of anyone outside that area that even heard of the show... of course considering the age of anyone who would have watched it, it could just because of early onset "oldtimer's disease"
I was also corrected.. the correct quote is "Pluck your magic Twanger, Froggie"

Well I tried "twanging" a nib last night, it works.
Thanks Wim for the highly technical explaination, I'm now a converted "twanger".

I actually did some tonight as well, after rinsing, flushing and cleaning out way too many pens

. One of the pens decided it wouldn't give away its nib/feed assembly, and I managed to get it out of alignment before I got the right tools out.
But it is fine again, relaxing while drying from the bathing and washing

.
Warm regards, Wim

<hijack on>
froggie was also a puppet on the buster brown show saturday mornings during the mid-50's.
when froggie was directed by buffalo bob to 'pluck your magic twanger, froggie', he would disappear in a puff of smoke with a loud "boing".

Remember the song?
I've got a gang, you've got a gang. Everybody's gotta have a gang.
But the only one real gang for me is good old Andy's Gang!
(I know this belongs in Chatter, but since we're hijacking, I just couldn't resist....)
