Hi all! I recently relocated to the St. Louis area, and I'm looking to get involved in the fountain pen collecting scene here. I was doing a web search and found this message board.
I've been involved with fountain pens for several years, and my obsession just keeps growing. I'm glad to see so many others here who suffer the same affliction! I think my wife first realized I had a problem when I visited the Paradise Pen store in Costa Mesa, California, and purchased three pens! Since then, I've tried to be a bit more "budget-conscious", purchasing pens on e-bay. My "killer find" has to be the NOS 1948 Parker 51 I picked up at the Los Angeles Pen Show a couple of years back. I believe I was meant to use fountain pens...ballpoints and rollerballs pens just don't "feel" right!
I believe in collecting pens that I can use...I don't want to just look at them! I've amassed a small collection so far, which includes:
Parker 51s (3)
Esterbrook LJ and SJ
Sheaffer Lifetime Balance
Morrison Patriot
Parker Vacumatic
I also have some modern pens from the likes of Namiki, Conklin, Bexley, Aurora, Taccia, and Pelikan.
I am interested in purchasing/trading...Drop me a line!
Dale
