I'm looking for an additional Sailor King of Pen nib section.

What would be the best place (=best price) in Europe to look for one.

I don't think I will have much luck looking for a used one :-)

Hello Michael,

I would ask Rolf Thiel. He was/is an official Sailor seller. Perhaps he can get one for you. By the way, if you get one could you please send me a PM with the price and where did you get it? Just for the future.

Regards,

Nelson

Hello Michael,

Please let me know too when you find one.

I've done the following looking for a KOP extra nib-section (the bicolor 21K F or MF and not the Nagahara specialty nibs; My black ebonite KOP has the Naginata Togi M nib):
1. E-mailed Keiki Koizumi of Sailor head office in Koto-ku, Tokyo - referred me to Karen McElwaney, Sailor distributor in USA.

2. E-mailed Karen McElwaney (Houndstooth Enterprises Ltd, Fayetteville, GA) - she cannot provide one.

3. E-mailed John Mottishaw (nibs.com) - he also cannot provide one.

4. Wrote a handwritten (using my KOP) personal letter to the meister himself, Nobuyoshi Nagahara, in Kure City, Hiroshima - never got a response.

hi Jaime, they might not have ordinary F or MF nib for KoP.
from their catalogue

The "King of Pens" is available with Medium or Board nib units and can also be fitted with the legendary "Nagahara" nibs - "Naginata Togi", "Cross Point" or "King Eagle".

Many thanks for all of your suggestions.

I will contact Rolf and maybe one or two Sailor retailers in the UK as well as Sailor service in the UK.

As soon as I have any news I will keep you updated.

Jaime, not being able to purchase an additional KoP section sounds unbelievable to me; it is not uncommon to own additional
nib sections to existing pens! It works with most other brands without a problem. This is really strange behavior of Sailor and the mentioned Sailor distributors. What if you just would have claimed that you lost your original one :-) Maybe I have some good news for you in a couple days...

Sailor Japan does not allow spare parts to be sold separately. Therefore, Sailor Europe does not sell spare parts to retailers.

Of course, spare parts may be available in markets outside Europe...

HTH,

Martin

PS: The Writing Desk is an authorised Sailor retailer.

Hello Martin,

Would you help us then find these "markets"?

Thanks,
jaime

I would like to buy a Naginata Togi Cross or a King of Eagle Nib for my 1911 too. Do post here if you find someone who is able to provide this.

Regards,
Stanley.

This is all true....

I've enquired a couple of Sailor retailers around the world asking for a spare KoP section; the reply always was the same. It is not possible to buy a singe Sailor nib section.

Most affordable alternative was the King Professional Gear fountain pen which can be found at ebay for ~ 300 Euros. This should be close to what a retail KoP section would cost ?!

From what I understand the King Professional Gear shares the same section and feed but the nib design ist different. I'm seriously thinking about this alternative - gives me an extra "flattop" cap and barrel as well :-)

Michael,

If you want to buy a whole PG pen for the section, it would be a very bad idea. As far as I know only the KOP, King Eagle and Naghara come with Naginata or KOP or KE section. The PG comes with F, M, B, Zoom and Music sections, all of which can be bought for $110 at swisher pens.

The King Professional Gear as mentioned by Michael is a different pen to the regular Professional Gear. The KPG is a KoP-sized Professional Gear.
