As my thread title implied, I tend to use ballpoints (sometimes with gel refills) more then fountain pens. Though I do own a couple Pelikans, Lamy Safaris and Namiki Vanishing Point fountain pens. I'm also considering a Namiki Falcon. So I certainly have more then enough of an interest in fountain pens to find this a very interesting and useful site. Happy to be aboard.

Thank you. My Pelikans are a blue/black 800 which, to my utter shame, I haven't used in quite some time and a 215 black w/ lozenge pattern. My Namiki VPs are the old style or design. They look much nicer then the more recent design to my eye. Just a cleaner look. And you can't go wrong with the Safaris. They write quite well for a pen of that price point.

What don't you like about gel ink?

I avoid using ballpoints, but when I do write with one, I notice that the experience can be quite satisfying. I never mention that here at FPN because some here know where I live. tongue.gif

Tis a brave man that steps up in here and says 'I have em but I don't use em - much'

Welcome welcome - and remember there is always a home for those FP's at my house....... biggrin.gif laugh.gif

I almost never use a ballpoint.
99.9% of the time I use my Pelikan M400 Extra fine nib or M215 with a M250 fine nib.

No, I use them (except, as mentioned above, the Pelikan 800 embarrassed_smile.gif ) more then that. If I had to guess, I'd say it was something like 70% ballpoints (w/ or w/o gel ink) and 30% fountains. It may not sound like much but it is a pretty good amount. The Vanishing Points get the most use; what fantastic pens they are!

And I recently bought a large quantity of high quality paper (Clairefontaine & Rhodia) which I think will inspire me to use my fountain pens even more.

After being here for a while you'll notice that 70% is starting to shift into the fountainpen side........
Welcome on FPN

Try out any old FP such as a Pelikan (e.g. M215) ora Lamy (e.g. 2000) as a starter.

Welcome! I use BPs too - for me it just suits my needs better most of the time.
