I have this very simple, but well behaved pen marked with the Aurora name but it bears no resemblance to any of the Aurora pens I've seen on line. Is this an earlier model? Or something else?

Any help in identifying it will be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks. Zoe

You've got an Aurora Idea there. recent production, from the last decade. Soft plastic barrel, firm steel nib, cartridge filler. This would be the entry level Aurora fountain pen. Same nib as the Ipsilon but a lot less money. These originally retailed for $25-$30 I think. Also available with a metal cap.

Vicary, you made my day. It doesn't matter that it is inexpensive, but that it has its own family and a name. It writes rather well, but as it didn't seem to have the clip that other Aurora's had I was wondering if it was an orphan. biggrin.gif

That's what it was! I knew I'd seen the model, but couldn't remember the name of it.

I was about to break out the catalog there for a second to figure out what it was.

Yeah, I've got a yellow one of these around somewhere. I had a red one too, back in the days. I'm not a huge fan of that nib, though, a little too stiff for my taste...

It's one of my problems with many steel nibs. The Ipsilon nib has just enough softness not to grate on my nerves, though I do prefer nibs that are less stiff.

Funny. I had never seen nor heard of this pen until I just saw the ad that Doc Nib just posted, selling one of these in green. And the next thing I opened was this. Next thing I know Rod Serling will do a walk on...

I believe it was Jung who called these "synchronistic" moments. biggrin.gif
