Swisher just brought in a yellow VP. Just wondering if it the yellow is 'mustard' or 'mandarin yellow' . Can anyone verify this?

I am very sure its just a mustard vp with a gold nib. The mandarin yellow was a 2003 limited edition and I doubt swisher would have enough in stock and selling for that cheap. The barrel color also seems a bit dark to be a mandarin yellow.

Thanks for the link, I was actually looking for this for a while.

It looks like the deep or mustard yellow that's commonly available in Japan.

It's not the mandarin - that was a limited edition in 2003.

Still one of the more expensive places to buy a VP. I don't pay more than $85 for commonly available ones new (I just bought one from Japan for $82 including shipping).

For a regular VP, I do agree that it is much cheaper to get it from the usual sellers from Japan.
What triggered my interest was that a similar announcement was made at Mr Binder's website that a new non-limited-edition Vanishing Point in yellow will be available soon.

One difference I noticed is that the deep yellow VP on Ujuku's site has what is described as a 'special alloy nib', the one on Swisher's has a 14k gold nib.

I think that must be a typo on the website. All the VPs sold in USA are 18k gold nibs (or at least all the ones I have bought are!!!).

The picture on Swisher's site does not look like my deep yellow (a little more to the dijon instead of French's mustard) VP. It looks like a middle color between the deep yellow and the mandarin. Could be just my monitor, though.

What I found odd about the deep yellow, though, is it is larger in girth than all my other VP's. Not by much, but it is noticable. Mine has the alloy nib unit in fine, and it is a really fine nib. Finer than the other Japanese pens I've had with fine nibs. I'm replacing it with a Binderized 18k .7 cursive italic - which I just got in the mail today.

If I edit these few sentences any more, I should just start over.

I queried this with Richard Binder, as the picture on his site also shows the yellow to be brighter than the mustard yellow VP from Japan. I received a reply from Barbara Binder this morning, saying that somebody at the DC show had a mustard yellow VP, so they were able to compare them and that the ones they have are definitely a brighter yellow.

Hope that this helps.

If that being the case I take it that this is a new color. Strange that it is not being offered by Ujuku or other Japanese sellers.

Looks good - I'd like one of those to go with my black VP.

Received my yellow VP last night. It's definitely a brighter shade of yellow (still working on getting good pics). Not as bright as the Mandarin yellow of a Parker Duofold. The new VP is more like a No. 2 school pencil yellow; the Japan release "deep yellow" reminds me more of dark mustard.
