Hi Bryant, it was indeed a good deal.

One thing I'm wondering about. The seller wrote about ... a platinum-inlaid 18k gold nib ... but this pen has a 14k nib as one can see on the pic and 14k is correct for this anniversary edition as it ist not the rose gold limmited anniversary edition. But still it is a fair price.

I agree. That's probably why it ended as such "a good deal". That seller does have good deals once in a while. An uncle of mine has purchased a Semiramis from him well under 2k.

Another auction. A higher price, but a 149, not? The seller also says it's a 18K nib. Strange.

It is important to remember these are only the "Special Anniversary Edition" released in 1999. Non-Solitaire Meisterstuck models were made such in 1999, there being no limit aside from demand on the production. In consequence I am unsure of what is at question, it does seem as though less 149s than 146s of this variant are offered for sale , and this is reflected in the market price but I see little strange with these pens per se.

If anything is strange, it is that the Anniversary Limited Editions of 1999 do not consistently sell better than they do, even in relation to their SE counterparts. I think the editions' similarity and a lack of information contribute.

Dont loose any sleep as I think its much more exciting to concentrate at the WE pens or if you have the money the POA pens.
