Wahl fans,

I recently picked up a flat top soldier clip pen and suspect there may have been some modifications made to the nib and section - strongly suspect, in fact, because it looks like the end of the section that fits against the barrel has been through a pencil sharpener!

The nib is a nice Gold Seal flexible, which I want to keep, and I have a section from a similar pen that fits, but I've found that the soldier clip pen does not have an interchangeable collar. My donor pen does, but the nib is irreparably damaged.

The pen I'm working on has a correct looking feed and I'll confirm that's the case when I knock it out over the weekend, but I don't know how to remove the damaged nib from the Personal Point collar, or how to get the good nib in there again afterwards.

Apart from the practical advice can you tell me whether all of the flat top Gold Seal pens were made with interchangeable nibs (or most of them - I appreciate that there are always exceptions)? Although I'm sure the section on my project pen has been modified the feed has the "M" for medium mark on looks identical to other feeds and appears to be a good fit: I don't know whether that's a good repair or the way it was meant to be.

Kind regards,

Darren.
